The Curated Planner: Ella’s First Birthday Rewind

In honor of Jack’s first birthday party this weekend, I wanted to take a look back at the first party I ever threw: Ella’s First Birthday.

I obsessed over this for months! Honestly, I’d been thinking about her first birthday party  almost as soon as I found out she was a girl. I put a lot of pressure on myself to make everything perfect down to the tiniest detail because I had such specific visions in my head.

The title I gave the party was “Ella-phant Turns One.”  So elephants were the most obvious theme throughout the decor:

Other themes, that I realize are sort of my signatures, were monograms, photographs of Ella, card stock, pink and gold color scheme, and foil balloons.

This party was a lot of work but also so much fun. And I didn’t know that I had a love for event planning until I saw each vision come to life. But I’ll admit, I didn’t know then what I know now: 1 year olds are basically still babies and they absolutely do not care about their parties. Of course, I still want Jack’s party to be perfect and special but I’ve been able to plan it with all of the love and almost none of the pressure. I want to create fun and beautiful memories and to show my love for my little boy in the best way I know how. The same way I showed it for my daughter.
