One of my favorite words to find in the scriptures is “nevertheless.” One of my goals in life is to have what I call a “nevertheless attitude.” Something difficult can happen, something unexpected, something terrible– nevertheless, I will believe. I will keep the faith. Nevertheless, I stay the course and better for it.

“Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing.”

This was a fisherman speaking but I have felt this in my own life. You’re trying so hard, you want to believe, you want the feeling of wholeness that’s like a carrot dangling in front of you but you can’t reach it. You’ve toiled and toiled and taken nothing.

“Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

Nevertheless, you keep trying. You keep the commandments. You keep close. You let down your net and try again.

Happy Sunday, everybody.
