tck home // pink & blue decor

My love for combining pink & blue is well documented– just take a look at our Sunday Best outfits. And if you want to go even further back, one of the very first blog posts I ever wrote (almost 4 years ago, when I was too shy and afraid to really be a blogger) was about how much I loved pink and blue. I just love it. There is no explanation I can make, I am simply obsessed. And now that I have a little girl and a little boy, my obsession isn’t going anywhere.

I’ve decided to let this perfect color combo be my inspiration for their playroom and I’ve had the best time researching pink and blue decor. Here are my curated picks:

One of my earliest interior design projects was making a gallery wall in our first Atlanta apartment and I still love fun collections of art. There’s a lot of blank wall space in our playroom and I can’t wait to turn that white space into pinks and blues. The only thing more irrational than my love for pink and blue is my love for Marie Antoinette. I normally go for light pink with light blue because it’s softer and more youthful but this picture is whimsical and fun and perfect for our playroom.

And since Marie Antoinette and France go hand in hand (more like head in guillotine) let’s talk about this photograph from Minted. I have been coveting it for years and I know the pink and blue are really subtle in it but that’s what I love about it. The fun of color coordination is connecting the dots and finding ways to link the two contrasts together.

I’ll be honest: I generally have mixed feelings about wallpaper. It just seems so risky! And over the top! And a huge pain to install! But I’ve been seeing these wallpapered accent walls more and more recently and they seem to turn out beautifully. I love this cherry blossom print because it’s almost neutral so it can add a sweet touch without taking over the room. Something to think about!

These are called ginger jars, don’t ask me why, and I love them because you can use them as vases or just have them stand on their own as an accent piece.

I feel like Caitlin Wilson and I would be friends. I mean this pillow looks like it was made for me! Her site is a temple of pink & blue and if it weren’t for my husband and the realities of paying a mortgage, I’d worship there a lot more often.

I love fresh flowers for events and tablescapes but they can be expensive and they always die. I love a good faux flower arrangement (pink, of course!) because they brighten and sweeten up any room all year round.

This. Unbelievable. Rug. That’s it. That’s all I can say.

Don’t you love a blue statement piece?! This beautiful couch is bold but you can lean into that with the rest of the room design or soften it with pink blankets & pillows.

I’ll understand if you don’t like this pouf. It’s a little bit out there and I think you either love it or you hate it. If it were any other colors, maybe I would hate it. But it’s pink and blue and I just love the different textures and the bohemian design. This is definitely in my playroom vision board.

Do you guys have any favorites from my picks? Or your own color obsessions? Decorating with a specific color scheme can be hard because you don’t want the room to be bland or too cookie cutter but there are lots of interesting ways to do it. With pink and blue, you can do light and soft hues for a more delicate and whimsical feeling or bright and bold for a more daring design concept. You can also really effectively add neutrals (my favorites are white and gold) to connect the two colors and have a more cohesive look.

I’m so excited to keep working on our pink and blue playroom and to share more of my curated picks!
