tck home // plans for jack’s room

I know I haven’t even mentioned putting Jack’s room together but here are my excuses: Jack doesn’t care about it or spend any time in his room and inspiration hadn’t struck yet. Well, one of those excuses has changed (I’ll let you guess which one) and a picture is starting to come together.

Inspiration hit when I saw this online:

I just thought it was so cool and striking and immediately imagined it in Jack’s room. So now I have this whimsical and adventurous Americana picture in my head that will match some of what was in his nursery. For reference, here are pictures of his old room:

And here’s what I’ve curated so far for his new room:

You can see I’ve gone with mostly neutral colors with pops of navy and olive green. And a lot of different textures to give it warmth (that sounds interior designer-y right?) Most of all, I want his room to be a tribute to boyhood. I have been so intimidated by boy stuff– not just decor but clothes and activities and a lot of what comes with being a “boy mom.” But as Jack is getting older and more communicative, I’m realizing that I don’t have to be a mom for all boys. Just my boy. And he is this happy and adventurous all-American kid with a permanent twinkle in his eye. So as he becomes more of who he is, I know more how to be his mom. I’m learning and having fun in this new space, and what more could you ask for out of life?

Can’t wait to get started!
