I know Easter is looking different for all of us this year but that doesn’t mean it has to be less special. Floating between optimistic resilience and overwhelming anxiety has been a difficult rollercoaster and some days are better than others. But what has consistently helped me these last weeks has been being proactive. Doing things I love that may require more effort but will keep the worry at bay. For me, that’s crafting and making sweet memories for Ella and Jack. I was wracking my brain for ways to make this Easter memorable for them and the idea of an Easter Craft Station was born.

I love Ella’s concentration! And her cute dress and bow don’t hurt either 😉

And I love Jack’s joy of being included. He’s growing up so fast! They had the best time doing this, even more than I thought they would. They were really careful with the paint (mostly- some did end up in Jack’s curls) and took their time making little masterpieces.

Of course, painting eggs and making bunny ear crowns would have been enough. But where’s the fun in that?! I wanted this to feel like a celebration. Since going out and roaming the aisles of Michael’s for inspiration was out of the question, I decided to bring back my paper curtain and add fun springtime colors. I was able to use just the paper I had on hand to update it and I love the whimsical, topsy-turvy effect.

I dressed up the table using more of my past party decor and cute scalloped bowls I (thankfully) got back in February.

And don’t worry, this craft station is so easy to customize. We only used the art supplies we already had (besides the eggs) and some fun Easter-themed decor from Meri Meri.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I was having a rough time the day before we did this. So on this morning, I got up and was determined to have a better day. And one lesson I’ve learned that for me, joy comes from work. And the extra effort to make things whimsical might seem pointless at a time like this but I think it’s more important than ever. So for you, maybe an Easter Craft Station isn’t it. But I hope you’re able to feel inspired to more urgently pursue the things that bring you joy.
